Currently we have issues for oozing in our process for the laminated adhesives (ATX204SF). Can you provide some tips on how we can prevent this from happening. I have read an article “Laminating Adhesives 300MP Tips for storing, handling and slitting in roll form” published on June 2003 in Technical Bulletin of 3M. Does this also apply to adhesive tapes (ATX204SF)? Please help me on this. Thanks and Regards.
Oozing can be caused by a few different things; too much pressure being applied to the adhesive; too much heat being applied to the adhesive; or the adhesive is wound too tight. Please look at what point in your process the oozing occurs. Is there something in that particular process or step that is causing the oozing?
Storing the adhesive at cooler temps until ready for processing could also be useful if the ambient temperatures are hot and humid.
Additional information can be found in the Laminating Techniques for Converters technical bulletin.
