Nylon™ and other polyamides can be challenging to bond with structural adhesives, despite their relatively high surface energy. Often, additional surface preparation beyond cleaning is necessary. Surface preparation techniques might include flame or plasma treatment, pre-heating, or etching. Longer open time adhesives can also help achieve higher strength bonding. Epoxies and urethanes are often more compatible than acrylics. Prior to trying extensive surface preparation, you may want to test with these specific 3M™ products that may give you acceptable adhesion with just cleaning and abrading: 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ DP6330NS Composite Bonder and 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ DP125 Gray Flexible Epoxy. Testing is always recommended on polyamides.
