We have had a variety of product be successful in similar applications. We call this type of material Hydrophobic Mesh. We would suggest utilizing a double coated product (contains a carrier film in the middle of the two adhesive layers) as parts are typically very small. The best product for evaluation would be a silicone adhesive double coat such as silicone/acrylic 9731 or silicone/silicone 96042 as they readily adhere to PTFE, hydrophobic coatings and offer a wide service temperature range. Additional acrylic adhesive products used in similar applications are 93010LE (100 micron thickness) and 93005LE (50 micron thickness) and 9832 if the substrate have very large pores or is in a screen or mesh format. Our 300LSE and 300MP adhesive family of products have worked in some applications and it will depend on the specific hydrophobic mesh being utilized and any surface treatments that it may have. Adhesion promoters or primers would give an added bond strength for the acrylic based adhesives, but it is likely exceedingly difficult to use acrylic based adhesives in this type of application.
I’m bonding to a PTFE breathable vent membrane and the other substrate is ABS, I need a supported tape product because of our manufacturing process. I need a tape that can handle -40 C to 105 C, what can I use?
