Hi, i am building a steam chamber out of a cattle trough. This will be used to steam treat wet mushroom substrate in bags. i will be insulating it with walk in aluminum faced poly iso freezer panels. I want the lid to have a watertight seal around the outer edge so i can get the steam to only escape from the vents i put in the lid. I want to bond 90 mil pond liner (EDPM) to one of the panels to use as the lid. This chamber will be hot for extended periods of time. it will take 12 hrs or so to climb up too 200F and then it will be held between 200 and 211 for 10-12 hrs. What kind of roll-able bonding adhesive would work for this application. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Thanks for the question. There are multiple options that may work for this application, however it is a difficult environment. Due to the low surface energy of EPDM, an LSE-specific adhesive would be necessary. For a laminating adhesive, you may want to consider:
3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9472LE: https://3m.citrination.com/pif/000044?locale=en-US
Although this is just on the edge of it’s temperature/duration range. A different option could be:
3M™ VHB™ Tape LSE-110WF
Which should handle the heat more effectively.
