I would like to make some faux old school factory style steel windows but don’t have the welding skills to do it. After watching ann of all trades video on her blacksmith shop and the creative solutions she found with 3M I was wondering if there were any recommendations to create a 1/2 wall of steel factory windows to go on top of a partial wall inside my studio.
Thanks
Pat
Hi Pat,
My first thought is that a two-part structural adhesive such as 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP420NS would be a place to start. Although a lot depends on the specific design. When replacing welds, it’s often necessary to redesign the joints to some extent. For example, a butt-joint is common for welding, but if you were to design for adhesives, an overlapping design would be stronger. If you can share some pictures of what you are thinking (especially the joints of the steel frame), I can provide specific comment.
Thanks!
John
