Guitars have been covered with designed fabric many times. I don’t want to cover an entire guitar, just the acrylic pickguard to an old Les Paul. Want to cover and seal a piece of 80/20 bandana fabric on it. Want to do it in a way that it’s tightly stuck to acrylic with a clear, satin or low gloss finish. Want a clear coat type finish over it once it’s evenly stuck and sealed to the pickguard.
Is there a single product for this? Or will it first take an adhesive?? Then a sealant or clear coat? If so, what product (s)? Thanks
Depending on how thin you want to make this, if you were able bond it with 3M™ Super 77™ Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25% (Aerosol), that would hold the fabric in place while you coat it with a polyurethane. This method would enable you to have the variable finishes as defined by the polyurethane you use. Hope this helps!
